Title: G1 Sniper Ram Help
Post by: lunaticx on May 06, 2011, 12:13:33 pm
Hello i bought a g1 sniper yesterday and i need some help with ram.
I found on memory campatibilty pdf that this kingston kit( KHX1600C9D3T1K3/6GX) is compatible with my motherboard.
At the pdf at Tripple channel it says 6PCS , Triple channel wasn't supposed to work on 3 dims?
if i buy the 3 sticks i will have problem or my memory will work as should be?

Friendly Regards
Peter

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

Don't worry the three sticks will work in triple channel mode  without any problems. I can't understand why it says 6 pieces unless that is pertaining to the maximum that you can install.

Refer to the manual for which slots to put the three DIMMs in.  Three will work fine; 6PCS refers to the max that has been tested with that particular type of RAM.

I can't see any problem with using the Corsair Dominators or at least some of that range as they were compatible with the other boards that used that chipset. Have you checked on Corsair's website to see if they are l;isted as compatible with this motherboard because they are far more all encompassing than the Gigabyte  site's QVL .

Well please post back and let us know how you get on. I can't see any real problem but computers can be awkward at times. ;)
