Title: 1155 mobos support for 4-pin CPU power connector
Post by: Xyzzy on May 08, 2011, 10:07:05 am
DO Gigabyte's 11555 motherboards support operating with only 4-pin CPU power plugged in?
I cannot find it stated anywhere.

1155 CPUs have no higher TDP than fe 775 CPUs, so power-wise it should be not a problem?

TIA

It shouldn't be a problem but you can get molex -> 4-pin CPU adapter.

I have found in the past that often when people put only the 4 pin connection in the board either won't boot at all or it will be unstable.

I guess it means that one should get 4pin > 8pin converter, or else nothing is guaranteed?

I mean, other vendors explicitly say they support 4-pin or not.

That's about the size of it. If you want a stable board you need to install all the power leads.
