With the rig in my sig can I (should I) run no page file? Is it slowing down my ssd? is 8 gb ram enough to turn it off?Shoud I move it to the raid array? how do I do that?

Hi
If I read your sig right you have 8 GB of memory. If that is the case then you do not need to have a pagefile and can turn it off.

Yeah you shouldn't need a pagefile for the most of it. But as soon as you fill up that 8GB (Not sure how easy this is without the pagefile) then nothing else will be able to run until you close other programs. As different people will use the computer for different tasks the best way to find out is to test for yourself!

It is possible to use more than 8 GB of memory but most people would never do it. If you check your usage on a normal day to day working/playing you will be hard pressed to use much more than half of that.

I do it on a daily basis...Tee Hee!.......Add 9 HDR bracketed images .........Use RAW@ 24MP...........stir for one minute in Photomatix-Pro and bake in Adobe CS5 with lots of layers..........Without this torture...... DM is correct as usual
Just to cover home base though Page-file is much like scratch disc usage in Photo-shop....it will always seek out memory first if it's (memory) is available.....If you have a storage disc in the system It won't hurt to allocate 4 or 5 gig towards it,...the important thing is to keep it away from C drive in the unlikely event of "Memory Full" "Flush to Disc"

You are quite right Allan in your circumstances where you are playing with huge graphic files etc but most people would never need the sort of memory that you use. ;)
