Title: X58A-UD3R Rev2 windows boot-up and memory issues
Post by: mario_73 on May 19, 2011, 01:53:58 am
hello - hoping someone can help

two problems:

1) when starting pc (running gigabyte bios defaults), system restarts over and over (3 times) when "detecting RAM size..." before loading windows 7 64 bit ultimate. tried quick boot, changed advanced bios settings, voltage, and all sorts of other crazy configs that didn't work.

2) have 12 GB of Gskill (2GB sticks in 6 slots), installed memory, windows shows 12 gb (4 gb usable). tried everything, tested memory sticks, reconfigured bios (that sucked really bad, system died on me), took out processor and put back in (as recommended by gigabyte representative).

Nothing has worked - any pro's out there who know what their doing? I need some straight-forward easy to understand advise.

thanks.

Ultimate 7-64 bit.........but only 4 gig usable........every time you hit/ reset BIOS it will revert back to default 32bit in bios..............4gig usable is a system that's some how it's back in  32bit mode  !!?.........didnt even know 64bit would run......check!

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

At first glance I would say that you haven't set your memory timings and voltage etc in the BIOS properly. Have you set it all manually or are you relying on the "Auto"  option ?

Have you cleared the CMOS and synchronised the two BIOS chips ?
