Title: GA-H55N-USB3 USB 3.0 ports not working at all
Post by: jotpilot on May 22, 2011, 03:56:17 pm
Built this rig around 3 months ago. All been fine up until a few days ago when the user reported that skype was no longer working.

A logitech webcam with integrated mic is plugged into one of the usb 3 ports. What has happened is that the usb 3 ports have stopped working altogether, so even usb 2 devices such as the webcam do not work. The webcam works fine in the usb 2 ports.

I have checked in the bios - the usb 3.0 chip is enabled. Windows device manager simply does not see the renesas usb 3.0 any more.

Any ideas or has it just died?

Thanks

Hi

I would suggest clearing the CMOS and then loading Optimised BIOS Defaults followed by any other tweaks that you want to make. After that try reloading the latest drivers for the USB3 and hopefully that will cure it.

Yes I agree with DMs advise .... not exactly off topic but could be mixed in with your problem....... the Logitech software applicable with/to skype and the Logitech webcam (I have the Karl Zeiss 9000 web cam) can be really persistent requesting you download there software, There latest stuff caused numerous conflicts to my system some months ago, lucky for me I noticed the download/update right before things went tits-up with a apple keyboard and the applicable USB dongle........might be worth remembering if the Bios reload has no effect.

Thanks for the idea but didn't work. Guess the renesas chip may have died?

The only other thing to try is disable all the power saving modes in the BIOS along with the ESATA and see if that makes it appear.
