Title: GA-MA78LMT-S2 what's it like
Post by: notnow on May 28, 2011, 06:25:59 am
Is the GA-MA78LMT-S2 Gigabyte motherboard ok for an AMD Phenom X4 840 CPU for a non gaming non graphics PC without a video card running Win 7 Pro with 8GB of RAM

http://www.gigabyte.com/products/pro...px?pid=3583#ov

What is the audio like - I listen to youtube a lot?

What would I gain by getting a more expensive motherboard (e.g. GA-880GA-UD3H) and do you have any suggestions for a better one?

Thanks

Hi there,

I've used a lot of Gigabyte motherboards and they have all been really solid and performed well. Personally I would probably go for one of the 8 series motherboards and this one in particular caught my eye when looking for you: http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3635&dl=1# the GA-880GM-UD2H.

The main reasons I would go for this particular board are: the better on-board graphics, better sound chip, up to 16 Gig of RAM if you want to expand in the future and most importantly, it will support your chosen CPU out of the box. The GA-MA78LMT-S2 will almost certainly need the BIOS updated before you would be able to run with the AMD Phenom ii 840 processor.
