ga-8n sli pro refusing to boot with no beeps or visual output
as mentioned i have a ga-8n sli pro with dual bios running in single graphics card mode
symtoms are
1: pc starts up and then shuts down by itself afters a second
or
2: it starts and then fan stays on but no activity visual or sounding beeps, pulsates fan and stays on
i have swapped out every component psu, memory, vga card, cpu, case, beep speaker, the case and power switch
even with no memory or graphics card there are no beeps.
i feel its related to bios but am unsure? any ideas?
thanks

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.
You say you don't get any beeps out of your system but have you even got a buzzer installled ?
I would suggest the first thing is to clear the CMOS. Please follow these instructionsexactly.
Remove the power cable from the mains supply and then press the power switch on the case for a few seconds just to drain any residual energy in the PSU capacitors.
Once done remove the motherboard battery for at least one hour before replacing it.
Next plug back into the mains supply and boot.
You will now need to enter the BIOS by pressing DEL and load Optimised BIOS Defaults.
Make any other changes to the BIOS settings to suit your self like disabling the floppy drive, disabling the full screen logo and making the HDD the primary boot device and then press F10 to save and exit.

thanks for the reply...... but no joy unfortunately
have attempted the procedure three times, even left it for 24 hours. still the same.
yes the buzzer is installed and have changed it twice for a spare, even the computer case.. the board seem
s fine no bulging capacitors or burn marks.
however i was reading a method on the forum for kick starting the dual bios on a ga-8n sli royal is there a similar way of doing so on the pro version as well?

another thing i forgot to mention up to the point where the cpu fan pulsates the reset button responds correctly, thereafter if you press reset the pc shuts down...
at present only power switch and reset switch are connected
-
Well I would personally disconnect the reset switch as that can cause more problems especially corrupting the CMOS. If you want to shut down the system then the power switch is a far better option.
You could try this for swapping BIOSes for booting:
You can kick in the backup BIOS by shutting down the PSU from the wall, then hold down your case power button in and then turn on the power supply button, a few seconds later the board will start, shut off the power supply then. Then you can turn on the power supply again and power up the board normally and DualBIOS will kick in.

result!!!.....but only short lived
for one boot only with just the mainboard, psu, vga, memory and power switch connected i got a visual boot up to the press del for bios stage.
went to plug in keyboard and mouse, powered off and powered on... same symptom... :'(

Try it again but after the final stage enter the BIOS and load Optimised BIOS Defaults before saving and exiting.
As a matter of interest ar eyou using a PS2 or USB keyboard and mouse ?
