Hi all,
I'm trying to work out if there's any reason I can't put five GPUs in this board using four PCI Express extender cables like this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PCIe-Express-x1-x16-Adapter-Extender-Cable-/150615944843?pt=PCC_Video_TV_Cards&hash=item231168ee8b#ht_1079wt_1083
I am aware that four of the cards will run at PCI-E x1 if this works, but that doesn't bother me because I just want to use them for distributed computing.
I have two 850 watt power supplies and 140A to supply at 12V so that shouldn't be an issue, I'm just wondering because someone said putting a lot of cards in this motherboard might cause it not to boot.
Please can somebody tell me if there's any reason why I can't do this.
Thanks in advance.

Yeh! your Mum's power bill !.......
Distributed computing ?...... can you expand on this, ... I'm trying to understand why you would do this in the first place and why....especially since you already know the best you can hope for is X1 bandwidth per card (4 out of 5)
But to answer your question, ... Buggered if I know ! ... and I'd be surprised if anyone will own up to knowing ... Sorry, I'm Australian , A spade is a Spade! but good luck!

I don't pay per kwh ;)
Basically I don't need any bandwidth. I'm doing Bitcoin mining (http://"http://www.bitcoin.org"), which just revolves around pure use of the GPU's clock cycles. x1 or x16 makes a tiny bit of difference but nothing worth calculating for.

Well at least I understand what your doing now, but even if your not paying for KWA , with the price of power in this country, someone's gunna wake up pretty pronto with the juice your gunna be sucking....I just don't think bitcoin mining can be profitable in this country, but hay ... good luck if you can make a go of it!
Update ... Failing any solid answers you could use Utube to visually inspect how there doing it. I think I saw some cables very similar to what your talking about.
