Title: AHCI Mode
Post by: ronpeck on June 09, 2011, 07:54:18 am
Have changed BIOS and set Reg. to AHCI mode..everthing sems to be working OK..but??
The HD's are not showing up in th BIOS?
The BIOS is set to  "'Quick Boot"..is the the cause?
The top item on the relev. BIOS page is set to AHCI further down is an item "eSATA" and further on there are two more place to change to AHCI.. should these also be set to AHCI ?
I thought that these might be some of the higher number SATA connections and should be  left as IDE for the DVD's etc.??
I am some what confused and would apreciate if someone could cast a little light!!

MB..GA-X58A-UD7
HD's..1x250SSD..1x1.5T SATA
Thanks,
ronpeck

Hi Ron,

First thing I would like to do is put your mind at rest about the drives not displaying in the BIOS. I can't explain the actual details of why it works this way but it is to do with the way Gigabyte codes it's BIOS and it confuses many people.

As long as you have set the controller mode to AHCI in the BIOS and everything is working alright then dont worry, everything is normal.

Just as well, there are enough things to worry about with computers anyway! ;)
