Hi all,
Installed this board to replace my UD4 B3 this morning. I downloaded the latest F6 bios and installed the Touch bios program. I'm afraid when I try and run this I am getting a .NET error - Unhandled Exception.
See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.
For example:
<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>
When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.
I am running Win 7 64 SP1. Can anyone help?

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.
I must admit to being unfamiliar with this new program and so I cannot give you any advice based on experience. However I would think all the usual things apply. Have you cleared the CMOS properly and then loaded Optimised BIOS Defaults ?
Are all the latest chipset etc drivers installed ?
Have you got the newest BIOS update installed ?
-
Thanks for the reply. I installed the F6 bios but have also tried the latest tweaktown bios as well. I also installed the latest version of .net. I have also cleared the cmos a number of times. I guess the next thing I will try is a format.
-
It seems that I am not the only one with this error. I wonder what version of .net you need to run it?

i get the same error. the old touch bios worked, but i updated to the new version and now no buttons and an error. i am using the f6 bios. i'm convinced it's the new version of touch bios. it would be nice to get the old version, but i can not find a download for it anywhere. does gigabyte not have an archived download for gigabyte drivers and utilities?
i did the live update on the touch bios utility a few weeks ago before you could download the new version and the live update was available so it updated. however it didn't work so i went to the site and downloaded the old version (it was still the only download and now you can't get it) and it worked again. i figured when the new download was posted it would of been fixed but it is not.
-
Thanks for replying HKEY.
Admins, you help us by providing a link to the old version?
-
Hi
We don't seem to have the old version available on the local website so I can only suggest that you contact GGTS for help.
Just enter your email address and click on the language of choice.

Please expect several days for a reply.
-
Ok, so I have submitted my ticket. Hopefully they will make the older version available!
-
Please let us know how you get on and whether reverting to the original version fixes your issues. ;)
-
yes please let us know how you go,
i have submitted a ticket for this exact same issue myself, without reading this post.
or any link to the older version until the new version is fixed.
im running Win7 x64 bit, and have the GA-Z68X-UD5-B3 board.
-
after a couple emails with ggts they sent me a new bios f7g to try and now touch bios works again. i guess i'm the guinea pig hopefully the f7g is pretty stable.
-
Thanks for the update. Kinda figured it must be that but it is hard to tell sometimes.
-
i just reflashed back to f6 because the f7g has stablility problems for me. i hard locked 4 times and my internet adapter stopped working 3 times all in a couple hours time. neither have ever happened on the f6. of course now touch bios doesn't work again. guess they need to work on the bios more. i'll let em know about the network adapter problem and stability issues the beta gives me.
-
GRRRR...
Hey how are you all. I have been having the same issues with touch bios. Add to that I have a G510 keyboard that will not power up until I get into windows and I have an awful time with this board and BIOS. I have tried so many different things to get it to work and nothing.
I also put in an email to a few different places at gigabyte and havent received any response at all. I never had any issues like this with an Abit or Asus board and never had to rely on support for anything so I cant say if this is normal for a mainboard manufacturer not to respond, but I mean for almost 0400 dollars I hoped I would get something better than this.
-
I can understand your frustration and have asked for a board so that I am able to test these problems out. I am sure that it will all be sorted out shortly but it is a PITA when these problems rear their heads.
-
hi all,
my UD5 board recieved a BIOS update on 23/06/2011, to F7.
Ive flashed my BIOS now, and can now open and use the Touch Bios application, make changes as necessary etc.
one problem though, when i goto use the "save to CMOS" option to save the changes, i get the same error as in this post.
"Unhandled exception" error, with the following details. Looks the same problem has moved now, to a function further down the line.

I am also using the Z68X-UD5-B3 board and while I can get touch bios to load most of the functions are not available when you click on the icon. I am using the F7 bios I downloaded from the gigabyte site as well as the latest version of touch bios. Is there a later bios version I should be looking at?
-
There have been a few bugs with the Touch BIOS since it first came out and Gigabyte have been busy fixing them. I would suggest making sure that you have the latest versions of everything involved installed.

Did you uninstall the old version first ?
Yes I did uninstall the previous version before installing the new one. However I have a niggling feeling in my head that there is something in the actual bios that has to be either tenabled or disabled to get all the functionality of touch bios. Does anyone know anything about this?
-
The only thing I can think off that you might be referring to is the EFI but that is not the case.

Ok ... well I guess I'll wait to see if Gigabyte sorts this out .. until then I'll make changes in bios the old fashioned way.

Have you notified GGTS of your problem. At least then they will be aware of it for certain.
