Title: m68m-s2p rev 2.3
Post by: wizeone on June 13, 2011, 03:26:38 pm
ok so i have a gigabyte board ( http://us.test.giga-byte.com/Support/Motherboard/CPUSupport_Model.aspx?ProductID=3505&ver= ) that is supposed to have gigabit lan.

when i go into the settings for the adapter->advanced->speed/dupex settings it only gives me the options of:
10 mb full
10 mb half
100mb full
100mb half
auto negotiation
autoneg for 100fd
autoneg for 100hd
autoneg for 10fd
autoneg for 10hd

which one of these is the gigabit setting??  or did gigabyte lie on everything?? the adapter says Nvidia nForce 10/100/1000 mbps ethernet.

i'm lost on this.

If you have an USB HUB , test with another , i have found stupids compatibility problems with this

by exemple :

1 - D-LINK DGS1008D OK in GigaBits mode

2 - TrendNet TEG-S8/AG not Ok in GigaBits mode with all my computers

For me my problems are not with drivers because LAN cards or HUB Leds are in 100 Mbits mode and not in 1 GBits  at BIOS Startup !!

If i remember problem are with Marvell ports

Pierre

* tested just at this time my ASUS P5E WS with 2 * 88E8056

one port run in GigaBits mode and the other in 100 MBits with the TrenNet HUB !!

have not done a bios flash yet.

it is connected via a cat 5e cable to a cisco e3200(it reports its in gigabit mode)

but transfer rates are wayyyyy slow. thats why i looked at the speed/duplex settings in the hardware manager to try and force it to gigabit, thats when i noticed there is no setting for it

ok i dont get your last statement.  last i knew you couldnt just directly connect 2 computers with a cat5(e) cable.

and to get back to the topic.  the settings from the control panel for the builtin network card do not have a setting for gigabit. so wich of the settings listed in the first post are for gigabit?
