Title: Gigabyte Z68X-UD7-B3 - GTX 590 SLI
Post by: YTC on June 26, 2011, 07:22:21 am
Does the Z68X-UD7-B3 board supports GTX 590 SLI (i.e two GTX 590 cards ? It seems that it has two PCI-x16 slots separated by a PCI-x8 slot which provides a tiny space for cooling. Has tried two gtx 590 cards on this board yet?

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte forum.

Yes it should support two 590s in SLI as long as your power supply and case cooling are up to it.

Thanks for your reply. Do you know the minimum power supply wattage to run GTX 590 in SLI mode? I currently have a power supply unit churning out 1100w. Would that be sufficient? From google search, it seems that psu at 1200w and above is recomnended.  My processor is i7-2600k overclocked to 4.4ghz.

I would think that 1100W would be sufficient as long as it is a good make and not too old.

Hello,

I am not exactly sure of the 590's, but I have 2X AMD 6950's from MSI in crossfire on my Z68-UD7. There is not very much room between the two PCI slots that will accept and run at the X16 spec, but if you have a good case with good air flow and most importantly what I found is using the fan schema in software to bump the fan speeds up as the temp rises helps a great deal. I use MSI afterburner, it has a fan control tab where you can  essentially create a temp vs speed curve that fits your preferences.

Happy computing, and if I can be of any assistance, let me know!

Thanks,
Mike
