Curious if there is a compatability issue with this graphics card and motherboard? I am going crazy installing drivers and operating systems, Win7 64 bit. i install the most recent updates/drivers and windows shows. exclamation points in device manager. Can someone help please??
I have an older GTX280 which works fine, so I'm lost.
I have
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
GA-G31M-ES2L
2GB RAM
1 TB Seagate HDD
No other peripherals are attached

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.
Apart from some conjecture regarding compatibility you haven't given us any clue as to what is actually the problem.

lol sorry m8. So yeah, I've installed Windows 7 with all updates and latest drivers and in device manager it shows the exclamation points indicating there is an issue, when I right-click on the Nvidia Control Panel it states there is no GPU attached, or something to that syntax, I can't recall the exact message and I'm at work. When I pull up DXDIAG it shows that no card is installed, I can get more details when I get home. Last night I installed Windows XP 32bit and the card shows as installed successfully in device manager, so I'm thinking it may have something to do with Windows 7 Ultimate N version, I have another Windows 7 Ultimate (not N) version I'm going to install tonight and will update with more information. I really want to be able to play Crysis 2 in DX11 mode and other games really, but this is where I'm at right now. :)
I'll update tonight, and thanks for getting back with me this is much appreciated for your time!

That's better! ;) Thanks for the added info.
Have you inserted the card into the correct slot, normally PCIEx16_1 ?
Have you told the BIOS where to find it ?
Are all the power supply leads connected ?
Are you connected via an adapter ?

What I did initially was
1. Uninstall GTX 280 Drivers
2. Unplug GTX 280 Video Card
3. Install new GTX 590 Video Card
4. Make sure all conntections are tight/secure
5. Logged into Windows and updated Driver
6. Rebooted
This is where I see in the device manager the exclamation points, which is just so bizzarre because the drivers install correct and prompt for reboot. The only thing I can think of is their are no drivers for that specific motherboard for Windows 7 N Ultimate 64bit and the GTX 590.
If I then
1. Uninstall GTX 590 Video Drivers
2. Unplug GTX 590 Video Card
3. Plug in GTX 280 Video Card
4. Install Video Drivers
All is well with the GTX 280.
Answer to all questions is
Yes, there is only 1 PCIEx16 video card slot
N/A, I honestly didn't know I would have to change anything in the BIOS for this since my GTX 280 was working ok, but I did set all to the Defaults, and reset my CMOS/Jumper settings several times.
Yes, I've verified the PCIEx power is supplied and that the Video Card is powered on and solid lights are current.
The Power Supply I have is the Thermaltake TR2 RX-850 Power supply - 850 Watt which has module power connections so I only use the required power connectors for the Video Card.
I appreciate your time in reading this thread, much respect :)
Thanks and I will be sure to update again tonight when I reformat with Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit rather than the Windows 7 N Ultimate 64bit.

1 - Have you tested with the CD driver ?
2 - Your Graphics Card is with one slot and two GPU and possible problem is with BIOS
I have a similar problem with a ATI HD4850X2 ( cannot boot another PCI graphic Card in same time in first )
I have reported the problem to GigaByte and no response > 6 months ... or my Graphics card is old ( 2 years !! )

I have used the CD in the recent past and will test with the CD driver again tonight. I was curious if maybe I don't have the most recent revision, I believe I have F10. Is there any way I can be directed to the most recent revision and directions for installing? I normally work with Dells at work and it's sooo much easier to update a BIOS on Dell hardware. :) ;)

Hi
You didn't mention which revision your motherboard was so I can only direct you to the general page, you will have to choose the relevant page from there.

It might also be worth checking what firmware the card is runnning as that could also be problematic.

Great looks like that is a newer BIOS! Will try tonight thank you for your expert thoughts!

I'm installing Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit via USB flash drive now :D
-
That is indeed good news then. ;) A BIOS update can work wonders.

Unfortunately updating the BIOS to the most recent revision didn't resolve. I'm thinking of purchasing another mobo :/

So, here is my new system, of course a GIGABYTE Mobo :D
1 x GIGABYTE GA-X58-USB3 LGA 1366 Intel X58 USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
1 x CORSAIR DOMINATOR 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMP8GX3M2A1600C9
1 x Intel Core i7-960 Bloomfield 3.2GHz LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Desktop Processor BX80601960
Should arrive tomorrow :D :D :D

You certainly should notice the difference there. You should have bought a triple channel memory kit for that board though as it supports both dual and triple channel but the triple channel would have given you much more bandwidth.
