Title: 2 GB modules RAM for P35-DS3P rev 1.1
Post by: christos19 on July 22, 2011, 11:31:12 pm
Greetings, I have the P35-DS3P rev1.1  motherboard (F12) with 2x1 GB RAM (CRUCIAL BL2KIT12864AA804 BALLISTIX) and I need to put another 2x2GB RAM because I need at least 6 GB of RAM.

The problem is that according to Memory Support List http://download.gigabyte.eu/FileList/Memory/motherboard_memory_ga-p35-ds3p.pdf there isn't any 2 GB in the QVL (Qualified Vendors List), except two modules which I can't find it.

The motherboard supports up to 8GB by 4 DIMM slots... Gigabyte should mention that it “supports up to 8GB by 4 DIMM slots of Samsung M378T5663AZ3-CE6 DDR2 667 or NANYA NT2GT64U8HB0JY-3C DDR2 667" only .

Any suggestions (by owners of P35-DS3P rev1.1 with 2x2 GB RAM)?

Also, according to Kingston I can use some their 2 GB modules. Anyway, I trust more the gigabyte's or other user feedback!

Thanks

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

I would advise you to go onto Crucial's website where you will find a very good tool for finding the correct memory. It also stands more chance of working if you stick to the same brand and type. You can input your motherboard and it mwill tell you exactly which modules are compatible and it's trustworthy. ;)

Gigabyte's own QVL is rather limited and there are many more modules that will work fine that don't show on there.

Hi Dark Mantis,

I did that. Those are the results: http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.aspx?model=GA-P35-DS3P&Cat=RAM

I did the same with another company (Kingston).
As I wrote in my first message I trust more the other user's or Gigabyte's feedback than a RAM company that tries to sell some RAM modules to me. (Sorry, for my bad english or syntax).

Anyway thanks for your answer and advice :)

Hi

My favorites are either Corsair, Mushkin or Crucial and I have yet to have a problem with any of them. Sure you get the odd faulty module but that is the same anywhere. I am sure that you can trust the Crucial website for your memory.
