				I have a motherboard (Gigabyte k8 4sli) that supports dual channel ddr pc3200 400MHz.
Question:
If I have 2 slots (A) operating dual 1gb (total 2gb), can I use my dual 512mb (total 1gb) on the next 2 slots (B)?  I definitely want my A to operate on 2gb dual.  Would like to know if this is possible or if it's better to go single channel; or just add one 512 on channel B where it doesn't affect the dual on A?

				Whats the exact model of the board? You're better off with matching ram sizes and speeds (ideally exactly the same make and model). So if it was me I would go for 4 x1gb of the same RAM(aslong as mobo supports it). Or just stick with your 2x 1GB. You probably can use your 2x 1gb then your 2x 512mb...but I have seen mismatching RAM speeds/sizes cause alot of hassle before.

				I don't think so, but you can put a 1GB and 512MB in each channel for 1.5Gb per channel, which will be in dual channel mode :)
Otherwise I think it will only be single...

				That's interesting :) thanks for your reply.  Though, has it been tested to still go dual?  I thought it has to be the same on each channel for it to work; otherwise it would be running as singles?
