My P55M-UD2 Rev1.1 motherboard ran flawlessy, rock solid, with my i3-540 for 7 months until I dropped an Intel i7 870 processor.
I'll post more info accordingly, but I note that most freezes affect video (all components are the same except the processor).
For example, in Linux display freezes but audio activity continues (altough I can't do anything except a hard reset).
I noted that disabling Advanced Core Features (C3/C6 states, EIST,etc) alliviate the problem a lot. For example, enabling all features plus Turbo memory performance will make system more unstable (even freeze when browsing pages, etc).
System is:
- GA P55M-UD2 r1.1, i7 870 stock, 4 x 2GB Kingston KVR1333 value RAM, 1TB Samsung F3, XFX HD5770, Coolermaster 550W.
Most BIOS options are actually set to AUTO with Memory Performance Ehnace setting to Standard.
Some idea? I'm really lost.
Thank you very much.

Hi and welcome.
My first thought would be that it is a BIOS issue and that maybe the BIOS version you are currently running doesn't support your new processor. I would suggest checking and updating if necessary.

DarkMantis, thank you for your reply.
I'm already running BIOS F11.
I'm surprised that the major culprit seems to be C3/C6 States, which is sad because I cannot get 3.6GHz turbo without it, so I'm basically with a crippled processor.

I've seen BIOS F12a (beta) in tweaktown. Where I can find the list of issues it resolves ?

The short answer is there probably isn't one. Most companies are not very forthcoming with BIOS update lists of fixes but Gigabyte seems to with hold more than most. Usually it will just list the main item and thats it.
