Title: GA-Z68X-UD7-B3 - 8 gb ram stick
Post by: cyt41 on August 01, 2011, 03:54:36 pm
i owned a GA-Z58X-UD7-B3 board and the specification tells me that it could support up to 32 gb of ram. There are only 4 memory slots, so in order to achieve the 32gb maximum supported ram, I would have to get 4 sticks of 8 gb ram. I'm running a lot of memory-intensive applications. Anyone could suggest where to get a 8 gb ram stick that is compatible with this board ? Thanks.

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

The 8 GB sticks are becoming available now but they carrry a heft price premium at the moment as the 4 GB modules are at the sweet point value wise. Try Corsair, Crucial, Mushkin for good quality RAM. You may find the best thing is to email them and see what they can offer you.

Just found corsair site :  http://techmento.com/2011/05/26/corsair-unleashes-8gb-ram-stick-2400mhz/ . A single 8 gb stick running at 2400mhz is costing us $500. Looks like I have to wait for a year or so to buy 4 sticks of them when the price will come down to a more reasonable level.

Yes this is what I was thinking. It would be prudent to purchase 4 x 4GB modules of something like the Corsair Vengeance which is very good but reasonably priced RAM and then swap them out for the 8GB modules when the become a little more pocket friendly. You can then sell you 4GB sticks on Ebay.
