Title: Can I run a single video card in a Z1 Killer series motherboard?

I am looking to buy a G1-Sniper motherboard and eventually run 3way SLI. Is it possible to use this board with a single video card and add a second and third card at a later date? It looks like I can run 2way SLI but I have read no information about a single card. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Hi

Any motherboard that supports SLI or Crossfire will accept a single card solution to start with and then upgrade from there.

Just make sure that the rest of your hardware especially the PSU will be powerful enough for the extra loading of additional GPUs when you add them.

Thank you for the response. I am attempting to build a higher end PC and this will be my first attempt configuring and using SLI. I am buying a 750W PSU for the system. I will look around for specs on the mobo and the graphics cards to see what usage they have.

You are very welcome and if you want more advice just ask. As for your PSU I would actually suggest getting a slightly larger one of about 850W if you haven't already purchased it. This will give you a little more headroom and as it degrades over the years it will still have plenty of power. The best ones to go for have a single 12v rail and makes such as Seasonic, Corsair, Gigabyte, Enermax, Thermaltake etc are the best.
