Title: GA-M57SLI-S4 v2.0 - Is there a way to disable HPA/Virtual Dual BIOS?
Post by: dekafox on August 07, 2011, 05:31:44 am
So I've got a GA-M57SLI-S4 rev 2.0 board I'm planning to use in an unRAID system, but the HPA(called Virtual Dual BIOS in the manual and stuff) can cause problems with those setups.  I'd heard that all the boards nowadays come with it disabled by default, and some of the older boards had an updated BIOS to do the same thing.

I updated to FHL and booted, and I still don't have the option to disable "Backup BIOS to HDD."  As a test I removed the HPA from the drive it had been on, and the BIOS put it right back during the next boot.  Is there a BIOS version that adds the option to this board?  I've come across references to a FHm, but no mention if it adds this option or not.  Or does one of the ones in-between FHL and FB(what came on the board) include it?

I also tried shift+F1 to see if there were any hidden options, but no dice.

Hi there,

I don't know the answer to this one and I think you might do better if you ask Gigabyte Technical support here: http://ggts.gigabyte.com/tech.asp?ClassID=2&Country=U.S.A.&SourceWeb=B2C
