Title: Top PCI-Express slot packed in on this board now
Post by: blade4uk on August 09, 2011, 09:50:22 pm
This is the third Z68X-UD5 i've had now after having my original one RMA'd etc...

It was originally RMA'd because of the top PCI-Express slot being dead and now after removing my graphics card and other components to change my CPU cooler, fitting it all back together and i get one long and two short beeps, though a graphics card works fine in the other PCI-Express slots.

I've tried multiple graphics cards, different memory etc...

Any ideas? As this is really start to annoy me and am seriously thinking of ditching Gigabyte completely and going with an Asus board as they just "work".

Thanks.

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

It certainly does sound like a problem with the PCIEx16_1 slot but as this is connected directly to the CPU it might be worth RMAing the processor instead this time and see if that is not the faulty component. It sounds like a bit too much of a coincidence to be the motherboard.
