Title: Athlon II x4 620 motherboard
Post by: Coriolano on October 03, 2009, 10:30:11 am
Hello all.

Somewhere I have read many AM2+ motherboards requires an BIOS update to add support for newer CPU before installing. Does an Athlon II X4 620 ready motherboard (no BIOS update using older CPU needed) exists provided by Gigabyte? Or else for AM3 socket motherboard?

Thanks for your help,
Coriolano

What is wrong with flashing? You can even use a pen drive, and it takes about 5 seconds :)

I think when buying a new AM2+ motherboard it might come with the latest BIOS, so you might not even need to flash.

Flashing doesn't require a supported CPU to work? Or maybe it's possible safely flashing using the 620?

Hi, I think you will find that you can flash bios without support for the cpu. Having built a few machines I have come across this problem a few times, flashed bios successfully and encountered no further problems.
