Title: z68x-ud3h-b3 motherboard not booting
Post by: Frank_Ward on August 19, 2011, 08:03:43 am
Just done an upgrade and mother board not starting.

Details I have to hand are:

Intel i5-2500k 3.3mhz 6mb cache lga1155 95w

Gigabyte z68x-ud3h-b3

Thermaltake trx-550 power supply

(Kingmax Memory but did not bring the details to work with me).

Symptom

On applying power get 2 short beeps pause 2 short beeps then nothing.

Any suggestions ?

Have stripped back to bare basics but not yet "bench run" the board to check for "shorts" (that is the next step)

Hi there,

two short beeps normally indicates a CMOS error which can often be caused by changing components such as CPU or RAM. The best thing to do is an extended CMOS clear as this usually resolves the problem.

If you check here: http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php/topic,6335.msg49836.html#msg49836 Dark Mantis goes through the steps of an extended clear CMOS.
