Title: GA-Z68X-UD3P-B3 vs GA-Z68XP-UD3R
Post by: Oubadah on August 27, 2011, 11:31:29 pm
So the Z68XP supports integrated CPU graphics, but the Z68X doesn't?

What's the difference between UD3P and UD3R?

Also, why is there no B3 on the end of GA-Z68XP-UD3R? Did  they just ditch that numbering as no-one is worrying about the sandy bridge bug anymore?

EDIT: Looks like the GA-Z68X-UD3P-B3 is the one for me. I don't want integrated graphics, so that rules out 'Z68XP' boards leaving  GA-Z68X-UD3R-B3 vs GA-Z68X-UD3P-B3. And it seems like the only difference between them is more power phases on the  UD3P version.

So GA-Z68X-UD3P-B3 is best for me right?

Hi and welcome.

Whether the boards actually use the integrated graphics by putting an outlet on the rear plane is kind of irrelevant as the CPU comes with it all integrated anyway.

AS for the B3 question I would have given the same answer that you already proferred. The B2 or B3 has always been there but was made a fuss over when the Cougar Point issue came to light so that they could differentiate between the boards that had been modified and those that hadn't.

@moderator concerning:
"Whether the boards actually use the integrated graphics by putting an outlet on the rear plane is kind of irrelevant as the CPU comes with it all integrated anyway."

Both the GA-Z68XP-UD3P and GA-Z68XP-UD3R boards have on the back panel a HDMI port so that they can make use of integrated graphics. The GA-Z68X-UD3P-B3 does not have a HDMI port.

So even if you would have wanted to use the integrated graphics on the GA-Z68X-UD3P-B3 board you can not because it is not connected.

Therefore your (quoted) text doesn't make sense to me.
Could you please help us out here?

I selected the GA-Z68X-UD3P-B3 board for my new system because:
- 12 power phases
- I don't need/want integrated grahics
- B3 revision
Just as Oubadah states.

@Oubadah
If you select the GA-Z68X-UD3P-B3 motherboard this seems to me a good choice for you.
I'm very satisfied with the board.
Keep in mind however that if you want to use it with a sata3 SSD the current F6 bios has issues.
See my post concerning this.

It's a matter of waiting for a new bios version which solves this.

Thanks for bringing that to my attention. Looks like there are no major issues with F5, so I'll be content with that until the next BIOS is available.

Hi GTZaskarLE

From reading your post I am afraid I do not understand what you are meaning as you seem to have reiterated just what I was saying. ??? The graphics capability is built into the CPU but not all the motherboards make use of it. Therefore if you don't want the graphics you can either choose a board that doesn't have it or just don't use it.

Sorry if I am missing the point but that seems to be what you are saying.

As long as I don't miss out on anything other than integrated graphics in choosing the Z68X, then I'm not concerned. :)

Hi moderator,

Well, let's say it'll probably be my Dutch way of reading english... ;)
But I'll try to explain what I didn't understand;

I thought it is not kind of irrelevant if the boards actually use the integrated graphics by putting an outlet on the rear plane.
Yes, the CPU comes with it integrated anyway, but it does matter which board you choose if you want to use it.
I'm not sure if you understand what I mean.
If not you will have to continue in Dutch. ::)
I agree with: "Therefore if you don't want the graphics you can either choose a board that doesn't have it or just don't use it."

@Oubadah
You don't miss anything other than integrated graphics in choosing the GA-Z68X-UD3P-B3 as far as I know.

By the way:
Gigabyte has just introduced the F7A bios (beta) for the GA-Z68X-UD3P-B3 motherboard.
"Improve OCZ PCIe SSD compatibility"
I'm quickly going to try if this may help solve my SSD-issue with F6 as well.

Update:
No, the F7A (beta) bios will not solve my sata3 SSD write bottleneck issue with the GA-Z68X-UD3P-B3 motherboard.
I will post the test results in my thread about this soon.

I think we are on the same wavelength now and it was only a matter of discussing it from different viewpoints. I would agree that if you wanted the graphics capabilities then you would have been correct but as the OP was saying he didn't want them then it is irrelevant. Just depends which way you are coming from!  ;)

Sorry to hear that the update hasn't helped with your problem though. It sounded hopeful from the description. :-\
