Need help with download of BIOS ver F5 for this board from gigabyte site. I get a 'runtime error all the time using @BIOS
I have tried updating the BIOS from a downloaded file and no joy!
Any idea/help will be appreciated

Hi there,
are you using the latest version of @BIOS to do the update?
If not try using that, you can download it from here: http://uk.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3434&dl=1#utility

Hi Karma
Thanks for the post; yes that is the one I'm using at the moment

Have you tried updating the BIOS using the FLASHSPI method?
-
Hey absic, have you changed your name again. ::)
Unless the new BIOS file is a different size eg 2MB+ in which case you will need to use either @BIOS program the or FLASHSPI utility it is better to use the QFlash utility instead. This is much more stable and less likely to give you problems.

Hi there
OK I'll try the Q-Flash again and see if it works. Just interested to know if other users of the X58-UD9 might have had problem using the @bios when trying to update their latest BIOS for this board? Had no problem with BIOS F4, but not the F5; just that I'm planning to use a 3TB drive for storage. Using a Vertex 2-120GB as boot drive & 1TB storage

I have the GA-X58A-UD7 and normally use QFlash fopr updates but I have tried @BIOS to see if it worked and it was no problem. I haven't actually updated to the latest EFI/BIOS version though.

Have tried a couple of times using Q-Flash and getting the same response..."file size incorrect"
When using @Bios the response is ..."runtime error...abnormal termination"
Is there another way round this or better just to wait till the proper Bios is available? Is there any chance another source for the Bios download is available?
Have tried both Bios...F50 & F 6, and the results are the same, rather disappointing from Gigabyte!
Any other advise?
Cheers

If you are getting a "File size incorrect" message that is because you are trying to install a BIOS that is a different size to the one it is expecting and has installed. I expect this is purely because your latest BIOS file has EFI support and is therefore much bigger. Make sure that you have the physicaslly larger BIOS chips installed though or it just wouldn't be possible to load it. You will need to check your motherboard revision number to be certain.

Just interested to know if any -UD9 owners have managed to download BIOS F5 or F6 for this board & if so would appreciate steps taken to do it successfully.
Have tried in vain to download F5 using both @BIOS (latest version)as well as Q-flash but just like before. NO go!!
Is it something to do with some conflict between the downloaded BIOS (? 16bits) and Win 764bit OS?...or something else
The flash card I used was formatted in 32bits before loading the bios files from Gigabyte download site and this should be OK?
Have googled the problem but have not been able to get the right answer
Help greatly appreciated!!!

Have you tried FLASHSPI as well?

Managed to download and updated BIOS F5g on my -UD9! Managed to download the BIOS from a third party and installed it without any problem with @BIOS!
The beta BIOS at Gigabyte's official site ( F50 ), might not be the correct beta BIOS as it will not load on my system!
Evan Technical advisers at Gigabyte did not know about the BIOS F50 will not load and it does not work!!
I will not attempt beta BIOS F6 as we do not know what it is for! Besides, I only wanted to download BIOS F5 as it will enable 3TB drives functionality
Gigabyte should update BIOS F50 on their webpage to help -UD9 owners, as it has been a nightmare to sort out!!
-
Well I am glad to hear that you have finally got it flashed and as far as @BIOS goes most of the time it works fine but then every so often it will fail and give you real headaches! I agree that it does sound like the file may be corrupted or faulty in some way so let GGTS know so they can fix it as you suggest.

Just for the information of owners of this board; there are 10 beta F5 BIOS updates, from 'f' to q & there are 4 beta F6 BIOS updates from F6b to F6e. The current F5 BIOS update is F5o, which I think is corrupt at Gigabyte download webpage? This needs to be verified with technical support, as it would not work on my board
The site to access is : forums.tweaktown.com
It was a matter of trial and error in my case to get one of those BIOS to work, as some of the updates did not work. Just for the information of -UD9 owners/users looking to update their boards
-
Thanks for the update and I am sure that if any owners of the UD9 are in the same place they will find it useful. TweakTown is a very useful depository of BIOS updates especially beta versions. They also seem to get newer versions before we do. I often send members over there if we don't have what they require. ;)

Hi Dark Mantis,
where is the thread for BIOS versions on this forum?
Thanks.
-
Hi
We don't have a specific section for BIOS matters and updates they are just put under the CPU classification ie Intel or AMD. Might not be a bad idea though for the future.
I take it that was what you meant ?
-
Yeah,
will be nice to have here separate BIOS thread for various boards.
Maybe runn3R will consider this idea.
