Title: G1.Assassin Fan headers
Post by: dannydag1 on September 01, 2011, 04:13:34 pm
Heya guys having problem with my G1 assassin fan headers.

Fan header 1 and 3 do not report fan speed I have used 2 different fans that i have verified to work using the good fan headers.

Fans do run just no fan speed report.

Both headers where working when i first got the board know nothing.

Know I am having problems with the eStata/usb port on front panel. eSata works fine but when i plug in a usb thumb drive it gives me a message "One or more of the usb devices attach to computer has malfunction and windows can not recognize it".

The thumb drive works fine in other usb port.

Am I forgetting something in bios? or possible a driver issue? I'm going to check all the connection again just to make sure but something not right.

G1 Assassin bios F5b
 I7 960 stock speed
Redline Ridgeback Mushkin 999000
Ocz Vertex 2 SSD 60 gig
Gigabyte gtx 470 SOC
Seasonic 850 watt PSU
CoolerMaster Haf X case stock fans
latest drivers from Gigabyte website

Hi

Try updating the Renasas drivers but first make sure that you have removed all traces of them. Use a program like Driver Sweeper or similar to make sure it is completely gone.

Reinstalled driver and still same thing.

Will try again later have to go for a while.

Is their any specific settings i should use in drive sweeper?

Ok uninstalled drivers again and reinstalled still no go.

This is starting to scare me wonder whats next.

I guess what gets me even more is the amount of time that gigabyte support takes to even respond never had that problem with EVGA.

I know it is something that is complained about quite often and I can understand why but in their defence you have to remember that while we only have one problem to deal with at once they have very many and I suspect that they are incredibly busy.

Is the issue with the USB only on the front ports and are they USB 2 or USB3.0 ?

What BIOS version are you running and have you checked to see if there is an update available ?

Not trying to be mean just constructive criticism ;D and thx again for your response.

It is only the USB part of the "Esata/USB" hub on front panel it has been working since i bought motherboard and just noticed it stopped working a couple of days ago.

The 3.0 USB's on the front panel work fine.

Bios is F5B

The fan header 1 and 3 use to display fan speeds too when first bought the board.

I am going to go threw connections again couldn't last  yesterday and I'll report back

Cheers

P.S
Forgot to put in first post I'm running "Win 7 sp1 64 bit"

OK just let us know how it goes today and if the problem is still there. Have you checked the obvious like the cable connection to the motherboard and make sure it hasn't come adrift ?

Ya like I said in last post was checking cable still no go.

Also read post about sniper MB with same issue see he hasn't found solution either.

Starting to wonder hopefull gigabyte will have a fix soon.

Cheers

I would still think it is down to the Renesas drivers most likely.

Have you tried disabling the C3/C6 etc in the BIOS ?  Maybe worth even disabling all the ppower saving modes for testing.
