the PC boots into windows fine. All works perfect.
But during powering up after post always turn itself off completely, wait 2-3 seconds,
and then turn itself back on post2 and load win.
No overclocking, bios reset, then flashed with F4, bios optimal defaults loaded,
I remuve SDD and HDD and nothing has changed.
think that in addition to optimal settings in BIOS there is something wrong.
do you have a suggestion how do I determine what is wrong

Hi
The first thing to try is to clear the CMOS.
Remove the power cable from the mains supply and then press the power switch on the case for a few seconds just to drain any residual energy in the PSU capacitors.
Once done remove the motherboard battery for at least one hour before replacing it.
Next plug back into the mains supply and boot.
You will now need to enter the BIOS by pressing DEL and load Optimised BIOS Defaults.
Make any other changes to the BIOS settings to suit your self like disabling the floppy drive, disabling the full screen logo and making the HDD the primary boot device and then press F10 to save and exit.
-
OK, I tried that but the problem remains the same.
I noticed that on the first POST shows F1 and on the second POST F4
How is that possible after flashing BIOS.
-
The thing is Gigabyte motherboards have a dual BIOS system. That enables the board to flash the Main BIOS over with the Backup BIOS in case of fault or corruption. What is happening in your case is that the Main BIOS is trying to boot , failing and then the Backup BIOS is kicking in and taking over.
Try following these instruction next. You may need to try a few times before you are sucessful.
You can kick in the backup BIOS by shutting down the PSU from the wall, then hold down your case power button in and then turn on the power supply button, a few seconds later the board will start, shut off the power supply then. Then you can turn on the power supply again and power up the board normally and DualBIOS will kick in.
-
I have not heard of a similar method, it seems to me that it can cause damage to the motherboard.
In any case I will try
-
I can assure you that it does work but not always first time! It can take a bit of getting the timing right.
-
I managed to do as directed. BIOS is loaded from the backup to MAIN BIOS and now I have both F1, but the problem still exists
-
I suggest that you now update the Main IOS to the latest version using QFlash not @BIOS. Once you have done that and the BIOS has been verified that it is working ok then synchronise the two BIOSes, Main and Backup, together.
-
I did a new update bios (F4) with Q-flash, from USB all goes fine,
after a reboot and load optimal defaults settings in the BIOS and restar,
received a message that bad chek sum CMOS.
After the next reboot everything goes as usual:
First post appears to mark F1 (as in the image from my first post),
then the computer shuts down and goes to another post with the label F4.
Which BIOS is now updated ? at F4 main or backup?
What would happen if I now try a sync Main BIOS and backup?
-
It would seem that you have now booted using the F4 Main BIOS . What you need to do now then is synchronise the Backup BIOS to be the same as the Main BIOS.
From a cold start with the power to the machine switched off press the power button and then enter the BIOS by pressing Del. Then when you get to the main screen press F9. This will bring up an extra screen which will display more information about the two BIOS versions. Assuming they are different exit the BIOS and shutdown. Again press the power button and this time press Alt + F12 where you would normally use the Del key to enter the BIOS. You will find that then your monitor will turn black and you will see:
Press [Enter] to start copying main BIOS to backup BIOS...
When you press Enter more text will appear saying:
Writing BIOS image.... xxxKb OK
Once completed more text will show:
BIOS successfully recovered! Power off or reset system!
Do as it says. Both Main and Backup BIOS chips now store the same BIOS version. You can now reboot as normal.
-
Now here it is again a problem on F9 I get information about only one bios
By the way on ALT + F12 I got a boot selection to choose from which device to boot.

The Alt+F12 option is always there and is often used especially when you want to boot from CD or USB pendrive just for once.
The BIOS issue is something that occurred when the P67 boards came out and several BIOS versions were affected.
-
I now saw that the CPU i2500k is supported only from F3 bios, is it maybe even lead to some damage to the bios or cpu
-
No it just means that the CPU wouldn't be recognised by any BIOS before that. However from memory that was the first BIOS released with the motherboard.
-
does that mean that MB is not correct and that there is an error in production?
is there something more to try, or should I throw it in the garbage?

Hello Emin,
Try booting with only one memory stick in RAM slot # 1 and see if dual boot takes place.
Is this dual boot common to both cold starts and warm restarts from within Windows?
How and when did this problem surface? (New computer rebuilt, hardware mod, added device, BIOS change....)
When you re-flashed your BIOS to F4, did you used the original BIOS file you had downloaded or did you download a fresh version?
Can you expand the listing of your system to include all devices that are attached to your system. (Includes Keyboard, mouse, all devices...)
Have you changed any initial settings of BIOS F4 defaults install? If so which one(s)?
Use the CPU, MEMORY and SPD tabs in CPU Z and then post pictures of the info it displays for these three tabs to this thread.
What is the intent of the two pictures posted in your first post? Why is the purpose of the second picture?
regards,
-
HI,
Q: Try booting with only one memory stick in RAM slot # 1 and see if dual boot takes place.
A: I tried, and the same happens
Q: Is this dual boot common to both cold starts and warm restarts from within Windows?
A: here's what I discovered
no problem:
- when the computer is restarted from windows
- when computer is completely unpluged from the wall and then turned on
problem occurs when powering on computer and it is bean previously turned off and all time pluged in to the wall.
Q: How and when did this problem surface? (New computer rebuilt, hardware mod, added device, BIOS change....)
A: New computer
Q: When you re-flashed your BIOS to F4, did you used the original BIOS file you had downloaded or did you download a fresh version?
A: I did not understand this. I flashed with downloaded orig. BIOS from Gigabyte site. F4 is latest version
Q: Can you expand the listing of your system to include all devices that are attached to your system. (Includes Keyboard, mouse, all devices...)
A: Keyboard - Logitech USB Ulta x Media, mouse USB Logitech M-BT83, Lite-On iHAS122 DVD Writer
Q: Have you changed any initial settings of BIOS F4 defaults install? If so which one(s)?
yes only: PCH SATA Control Mode to:/AHCI/ and Full Screen LOGO Show to: /Disabled/
Q: Use the CPU, MEMORY and SPD tabs in CPU Z and then post pictures of the info it displays for these three tabs to this thread.
ok PrintScrn.....
Q: What is the intent of the two pictures posted in your first post? Why is the purpose of the second picture?
mistake, I wanted to attach a picture of the second raising of the mark BIOS F4 /Disabled/

Hello emin,
Thanks for your reply, it helps me focus on what is happening on your system. Lets look at your last comments: "

What my question should have said is did you re-download the BIOS F4 or use the F4 BIOS file you had previously downloaded? You can occasionally get corrupted downloads and re-downloading and re-installing a file or application sometimes makes a difference.
Q: Use the CPU, MEMORY and SPD tabs in CPU Z and then post pictures of the info it displays for these three tabs to this thread.
ok PrintScrn..... Any picture will do as long as it is readable. Whatever device you used for the pictures in the first post should do fine.
I noted that you selected PCH SATA Control Mode to:/AHCI, why? What is your HHD(s) and or SSD(s) config?
Make sure that you disable all power saving and sleep options in BIOS and OS. We want to make sure that your computer actually shuts down and does not go into deep hibernation.
Certain set up will keep power going to attached devices if system remains plugged in. Can you try to re-boot to BIOS after shutting down and not unplugging with different keyboard and mouse installed? Just want to see if your Logitech devices are contributors.

I put the pictures twice but the antivirus program from this forum deleted posts
I download another copy F4, and F3 also, and again the same.
AHCI because I previously installed OS with AHCI setings,
but it does not matter, the problem occurs with disconnected SDD, HDD and DVD
I'll try with another keyboard tomorrow when I get it.

I flashed the backup bios today with the version of my main bios which is the F4 ofcourse. Believe me you will never do the alt+f12 combination with USB keyboard. Buy or borrow a PS/2 keyboard to do the job. 100% guarantee...
-
Yes good advice there and always useful when faultfinding or running DOS programming.
-
unbelievable but true, usb keyboard was a problem. Today I bought a PS/2 Chicony for 9 € and everything works nicely.
question still remains why MB dislikes my USB keyboard, but I do not have to deal with. New keyboard is fine.
Thanks to everyone for the suggestions.

Great news emin,
You can now troubleshoot yout Logitech keyboard if you wish to. Check OEM support site and forum for possible firmware or driver updates. Search logitech forum for posts similar to the problem you experienced.
Normal USB Keyboards need + 5 volts power to operate. Adding lighting, and added added feature to a keyboard like yours makes voltage provided even more critical. Try plugging your USB Keyboard into another USB port on your motherboard or a self powered USB hub.
Good luck,
