Title: Issues with DES and linux.
Post by: Mark on October 11, 2009, 09:18:07 pm
My hope is to run linux on this computer (GA-P55-U6D) but I've got a few problems with DES 2.

I don't think there's any way to turn DES on with linux.  I can boot into Windows and turn DES on, then go into stealth mode and boot into linux and I've still got DES.

However, if I reboot for any reason after that point, the LEDs go out during the shutdown, and when the system is restarted the boot sequence pauses at "Loading Operating System" with a message like "Dynamic Energy Saving is deactivated!  Please boot into Windows and reactivate it!  Press any key."

And the system WAITS.  Until somebody unlocks the server room and physically presses a key.

Would it be possible to add a configuration option in the BIOS menus?

Thank you.  I can run with DES off.

I would be happier if I could run linux with DES _on_!

What I do not understand is why the feature has to be controlled with a user-level program.

Why can't it be controlled in the BIOS setup?

It's due to BIOS does not have enough space available for this extra function.

But anyway thanks for your comment
