Title: Gigabtye X58 + Visiontek 5850 refrence model blackscreening all the time.
Post by: Bishop on September 19, 2011, 07:51:54 pm
Whenever I try to start a full screen application my monitor blackscreens on me. I have to reinstall the graphics drivers when I start up, to alleviate this problem and it's extremely aggravating.
I have contacted ATI , Visiontek and now you. i hope one of you can solve the issue, because as it is my first experience with visiontek and gigabyte is now bad.. This is not what I call acceptable.
Seems like everyone I talk to just tries to say it's the other guys fault. So I'm going to assume it's all of your faults and just avoid your products from now on if I can't get this fixed.
Kind of at the end of my rope here, so I hope you don't give me the same broken record response I keep getting elsewhere..
Thank you and sorry for my aggravation but I've had this card since release and I'm really tired of this.

Specs are:
 Gigabyte x58 mobo
 Core i7 bloomfield
 Visiontek 5850 refrence model.
 Win 7 x64 home.

Hi and welcome.

You don't sound very happy! Let's see if we can change things.

First some questions. Have you got the two power cables connected to the graphics card ?

What PSU are you using ?

Have you got the 8 pin power connector connected to the motherboard ?

Exactly what motherboard have you got ?

Is the GPU in the top PCIE slot ?

What BIOS version are you running on the motherboard ?

What firmware is on the GPU ?

What driver versions are you using ?

Please answer all these and we will see if we can help you.

"I misspelled reference as well, oops"..

What PSU are you using ? 650 watt "Ultra" PSU. Just bought it recently.

Have you got the 8 pin power connector connected to the motherboard ? Yes

Exactly what motherboard have you got ?  gigabyte x58 ud3r

Is the GPU in the top PCIE slot ? Yeppers and bios is set to detect pcie first.

What BIOS version are you running on the motherboard ? V6.00 PG

What firmware is on the GPU ? I read this in dxdiag:  ver 8.881.0.0

Ok, sorry but more questions. The model number that you gave me is wrong, did you mean GA-X58A-UD3R ?

You said the the BIOS was V6.00 PG I don't know where you got this number form but it is not the BIOS. The BIOS number will be F* like F1, F3, F5g etc.

Can nyou also post the revision number of your motherboard please. It is printed on the board in white lettering on the bottom left hand side near the PCIE slots.
