My GTX285 is not being recognised in device manager. It is listed in the post boot screen correctly but VGA graphics are showing in the Display Adapters section. Consequently unable to load Nvidia drivers as it states no valid card installed. Help please!
-
Are you using the correct drivers from the nvidia site? Are all latest motherboard drivers installed?
-
Theer was a dodgey batch of GTX285 cards about,
Can you check in another puter?
-
Yes latest motherboard drivers etc installed.
Yes correct drivers from Nvidia but they will not install as the card is not present in device manager.
Card works fine in another computer.
What perplexes me most is I did not think this board had onboard graphics and the monitor is (obviously) connected to the card so why is VGA graphics being installed and working??
Oh and the board is brand new.

Hi,
What o/s is installed?
Check hidden devices in system manager, view, devices by connection, hidden devices,
Is it shown there, If not,
Check BIOS settings onboard vga is disabled,
Have you got the additional power plug fitted to the graphics card?
A o/s reinstall may be required, as it is the o/s not recognising the graphics card, not the motherboard, as it is shown in POST
Can't think of anything else at the moment!
let us know how you get on?
Regards

Re-installed win7 and everything is fine!
Still don't know what caused it though. ???

Probably a good old fashioned Windows glitch ;) Win7 is fairly new remember :)
