A strange pattern is developing recently with my motherboard. When I boot her up, on occassion, she will stall at the gigabyte boot image before proceeding to POST. I have the latest Bios update by the way. And at times, when POST is finished and it hands off to the OS (Windows 7 64), it takes a long time to get the the password screen. Not sure if it is related, but one of my drives might be showing signs of impending failure... This is not the drive in which my OS is installed to by the way. This drive has primarily all the applications. Other drives have my games and storage). On occassion, it will deny me saving a file to this particular hard drive, saying there is a problem or corrupt disk (or something to that effect). I have been required to run check disk on more than one occassion. A new hard drive is on it's way, but I wanted to touch base with the experts, here at Gigabyte support. Any thoughts or recomendations would be appreciated.

Hi and welcome. I couldn't find an expert so I thought I would answer it myself!
It quite possibly is a drive failing but that is easy to prove simply by doisconnecting hte suspect disk and seeing if the problem persists. Also turn off the splash screen from within the BIOS and you will have a better idea of what is happening at the time. Make sure that you have disabled the floppy drive seek as well.

Seems it may have been the HD.. recieved new HD 24 hrs after ordering it on-line, and since I replaced the offending drive, everything seems to be back to normal.. Time will tell, but I think all is now well.

Well I am happy that it seems to be working alright again now and it was just the heard drive.
