Title: GTX580 (GV-N580UD-I) Crashes/Freezes
Post by: krad on September 23, 2011, 02:03:59 am
Hi

I recently bought a new gigabyte graphic card, GTX580 (GV-N580UD-I)

And I have experienced a lot of game crashes / freezes, the game crashes directly out to windows desktop after the screen gets white or black.

This happens in almost any game, especially in games using DX11, I have tried with different driver versions from nvidia.com, newest and even older / reverted drivers.  ???

Right now I am using the version i downloaded from your site, (266.77 - Date:2011-02-23) and i find them a bit old.  :-\

This doesn't seem to work, I am getting the same error. And I wonder if I am suppose to update the cards BIOS, (Version F10), and if that is the case, where do I find the new BIOS drivers?

Any suggestions of what to do? :'(

Following is a part from the log file of the crash report from the game Company Of Heroes.

22:11:04.54 Error: DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED
Desc: Device removed.
Code: 5, Facility: 2170, Severity: 1
Call: [pTex->Map((UINT)subSrcResourceIdx, mapType, 0, &lockedData)]
d3d10 -- Display device has been removed. Please check for newer display drivers.
-- FATAL EXIT --

HELP!   :'(

Kind Regards

Hi and welcome.

There seems to be an unusual amount of this sort of problem at the moment and generally most people find they can cure it by raising the voltage a touch. I would suggest searching the forum to see what you can find as I am no expert on the Nvidia based cards.

we are having a very similar issue, look at the post i just did might help

EDIT: I have figured it out i think. Gigabyte overclock it from the factory to the point where its unstable, just bring it down to about 775MHz (its recommended settings and it should work great :)
btw i used MSI afterburner to do this very easy

Returning it to stock settings is often a way to get it stable but a lot of people don't want to do that as they have paid extra for this card. The other option is to raise the voltage a touch to make it stable.
