Title: Black screen
Post by: andym4n on October 02, 2011, 06:42:52 pm
Hey, I recently re installed windows 7 home premium. When I turn on my computer the screen will be black for about 50 seconds. It stays black until I get the windows 7 log in page (where you can type in your password). Before reinstalling windows 7, I remember when I turned my computer on it would show the "Gigabyte" logo and say like hit f8 for bios etc, and then after that it would say microsoft, and have a little rectangle, and then finally show the windows 7 login page. Also when I go to start > sleep, It will sleep for like 5 seconds and then turn back on. I have also got some BSODs (Blue screens of death) them being: "BAD_POOL_HEADER, MEMORY_MANAGEMENT and PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA". It also said if this happens again disable bios caching or shadowing. Please help.  :-\

Hi

First thing I would do is to check all the RAM modules, GPU, etc are securely installed and then all the power cables etc.

Next clear the CMOS and load Optimised BIOS Defaults, make any other changes in the BIOS and then save and exit.

If still a problem I would do a clean install of Windows.

Post back if you still have a problem.

I can't see when I first boot up. What do I press to get into the bios or is there another way?

You have to press DEL (delete) to enter the BIOS on booting up.

Try just having one module of memory installed in the first slot for now.

Make sure that you are using the correct graphics port.

If you have a PS2 keyboard plug that in instead of the USB for faultfinding. Don't forget to turn off the computer first.
