Title: ME Firmware on GA-Z68X-UD4-B3
Post by: FoLmEr on October 03, 2011, 09:15:26 am
Hi,

So I downloaded the latest Intel Management Engine software for my board and there seems to be all kinds of developer tools included in the package and not just the driver as I anticipated.

Is the average user expected to use all these tools to flash his own ME firmware? It seems Gigabyte doesn't even know what they released here..

I know there's tons of documentation included but it's all formal Intel stuff and no specific Gigabyte user guide.

Hi

Obviously you are only expected to use the driver not all the other tools but can I ask where you actually downloaded it from ?

Hi,

I'm glad I got a quick reply because I might just be one of those impatient enthusiasts who has a hard time not pulling the trigger on the update command from the DOS prompt even thought it could mean total system meltdown :P

Anyway, got it from the download section for my board on the Gigabyte site. Official file, no funny business.

I was just interested in where you got it from and thought that it could have been the Intel site or somewhere else. ;)

... so I should just keep my hands off of the many exciting knobs?

Is Gigabyte aware that they've released potentially destructive developer tools together the drivers?

(Oh, and btw, the drivers included in the package is actually the same version as the previous ones, 7.0.0.1144)
