Hi , I have a question about the PCIEX slots on my motherboard .
According to the webpage and manual for the GA-MA780G-UD3H :
"The PCIEX1_2 and PCIEX1_3 slots share bandwidth with the PCIEX4_1 slot.
When the PCIEX4_1 slot is populated with a x4 card, the PCIEX1_2 and PCIEX1_3 slots become unavailable."
The manual does not make clear what happens if the PCIEX4_1 slot is populated with a x1 card .
Can anybody tell me if PCIEX1_2 and PCIEX1_3 slots become unavailable if the PCIEX4_1 slot is populated with a x1 card ?
I started a support ticket asking Gigabyte a few days ago , but have not had a response yet ,
Thanks

Hi there,
reading this:
(Note 4) The PCIEX1_2 and PCIEX1_3 slots share bandwidth with the PCIEX4_1 slot. When the PCIEX4_1 slot is populated with a x4 card, the PCIEX1_2 and PCIEX1_3 slots become unavailable.
from the Gigabyte spec's for your motherboard I would think that using a PCIex1 card wouldn't be a problem. The issue arises only because an X4 card would want all the bandwidth whereas using three X1 cards wouldn't.

Hi ,
Thanks for the reply ,
So , because Gigabyte make no specific mention of x1 cards using all the available bandwidth it's safe to asume that it's ok ?
I'll be ordering a PCIex1 dual DVB-S2 in the next few days , and wanted to make sure it'll work .
Thanks .

Hi again,
that's my understanding of the situation. If you like I can ask Gigabyte for confirmation of this but it might take a few days for them to get back to me and you will probably have an answer from Tech Support by then. :-\

That would be great , thanks .
I already have a support ticked started ( on Oct 3rd ) but according to the webpage , it hasn't been read yet .

I just recieved a reply from Gigabyte ,
I thought I'd share it in casse anybody else has the same question .
Reply from Gigabyte
If there is a PCIE X1 card in PCIEX4_1 , the PCIex1_2 and PCIex1_3 are still available .
@ absic ,
Thanks for your replies ;D
