Title: GA-Z68X-UD3-B3: PC refuses to shut down after BIOS update (F6 --> F9)

Hi,

since I updated my BIOS from F6 to the latest F9 version, my machine does not shut down from Windows 7 x64 Prof. anymore. It just sticks in this light blue Farewell or Shutdown screen forever. It happens both with fail safe and optimized defaults. No additional changes were made in the BIOS settings, and there´s no overclocking either. When I roll back to F6 the shutdown works fine again.

Has anyone else encountered this?
What can be done?

As a sidenote I must mention that a have a OCZ Vertex 3 SSD as my primary OS drive and I am plagued by the SF2281 related problems(bluescreens, vanishing drive,...), so I bet the SSD plays a main part in this issue, too.

Hi and welcome.

I expect that you are correct in your assumption that the OCZ SSD is playing a big part in this problem. I would suggest first checking to see if there is a firmware update for your drive. If so install that.

How did you update the BIOS on the motherboard, by @BIOS ?

I don´t have the latest SSD firmware(2.13) as my system runs more stable using an older(2.09) version. With the newer ones my system stability deteriorated.
The BIOS update was performed with QFlash.

The trouble is that often OCZ in particular have issues with their drives and compatibility problems with the motherboards.

Well I found a solution after some intense google research...

In the registry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon I changed the value for PowerdownAfterShutdown from 0 to 1. After that shutdown and sleep mode are working properly again...
