Title: gigabyte z68ma-d2h-b3 ver. 1.0 only cycles on/off w/ ddr3 in 1 and or 3 slot
Post by: boston on October 12, 2011, 02:54:49 am
hello-

this is my second board with my new build.  I purchased this board off new egg and came in the mail today.  anyway, it exhibited the same issues the first board had.  if  you put a ram stick in the DDR3-1 slot or the DDR3-3 slot it won't start up; only cycle on and off at pretty consistant intervals.  if I move the same two sticks of ram to the DDR3-2 or DDR3-4 slot the computer will give one beep and start to load the bios settings.  if you insert a ram stick back into the 1 or 3 slot, the computer will just cycle on/off all day.

I can load windows 7 if I put ram in the 2 or 4 DDR slots, but is that acceptable or shoud the DDR 1 and 3 be working prior to bios update etc?

Any suggestions would be appreciated as I really don't want to RMA this board too..ugh...some stats of the current build below:

Hi and welcome.

I am sure that if you used the correct slots for Dual Channel mode which would be DDR3_1 and DDR3_2 together they should work fine. Fill the two white slots and see how you get on.
