Hi everyone!
Long time no contact...I thought I would start with some very good news!!!
AMD is now selling the new BIG BULLY BULLDOZER'S 6 and 8 core CPU's here:
http://www.tigerdirect.com/email/WEM2850.asp?SRCCODE=WEM2850TO&cm_mmc=email-_-Main-_-WEM2850-_-tigeremail2850
I think they are attempting to pick a fight with Intel! :-\
Enjoy!!!

There is no fight with intel after looking at all the benchmarks the 6 core 1100t actually out benches the bulldozier in most test and intel is still way ahead. Disappointing really have been waiting for this chip and now im staying with my 1090t.

Total waste of time, this 20-year AMD fanboy is getting an i7-2600K ASAP and selling my AM3+ platform, never to return. And to think I gave them another chance after Phenom I...what a thoroughly dismal effort.
-
Now you are learning. It is no good being a fanboi of any company and much better to make a decision each time on which is the best purchase in performance for money terms.

AT,
I definitely feel your pain and I am so sorry it did not work out for you!
I also just put my AMD trumpet away...found a place furthest back in the closet and out of sight...
I read the ana tech article you posted. Wow! What a terrible embarrassment for AMD and a very deep disappointment for all AMD fans [myself included], who have been patiently waiting for the "mighty" bulldozer...
Well, there is always a brighter side to look upon...
1. I am still very, very happy with my AMD1055T rig that is now over one year old and running flawlessly!
2. I am very thankful for the excellent review you just posted, because reading it just saved me the pain of purchasing a downgrade rather than an upgrade!
3. I am now more convinced that purchasing and building the 2500k last Feb. was a great idea!
4. Anyone who owns a personal computer is actually very, very, well off [92% of people in the world do not own a computer, and 1.5 billion people have no access to electricity, 5 million people starve to death every year (13698 per day)]!
I am not shedding any tears over the great AMD let down. I already let go of the pain. Instead, I choose to be positive. I am thankful for what I do have...and that takes most of the pain away...
Hey DM, how are you buddy?
Anyone have any nice suggestions for me for upgrades for the upcoming Black Friday? It appears that 1100T might be a good deal!!! Any suggestions on upgrading to nicer MB's, etc.? or...should I just be happy with my present rigs as they are?
And how about the soon to be released Intel X79 chipset and Socket 2011?

The way I see it, my system is a recent build (this year). I chose the 1065t because of the lower TDP, and the fact I live in a hot country, so much so that the stock cooler was insufficient, even on this relatively economical 95 watt part! If I can get by on an old Core 2 at work, then the PII should last me at least 3 years. If AMD haven't pulled their socks up then, my next build will be Intel. If I can afford their prices. ;)
-
@soarwitheagles - You make some very good points in your last post which certainly puts things into perspective. I'm thinking about another system build and may go the Intel route with a i5 2500k CPU and I'm not to sure about the MB yet. But Bulldozer is here and it is what is and AMD fans have to move on until AMD produce something better.

Hi Soar, hope your keeping well mate.....I have been waiting also with an empty haf x case for the bulldozer and will now go down the intel i7 road next.

T9,
I like the way you think! I believe your 1090T is an awesome CPU. I've been very happy with Intel's 2500K...no complaints at all! And the prices for the 2500K sure seem good! Hopefully there will be some killer deals in BF!
Enjoy!

Jannie,
Nice to hear from you friend! So sorry I have not been able to post much lately. That HAF X case sure is nice [I am hoping to find a good deal on the HAF X on BF]. You can't go wrong with Intel's 2600K...it is a wonderful CPU!
Have a wonderful day Jannie!

Im very glad i found that review also and am happy with my 1090t also when i upgrade it will be intel route probably has been since 939 sockett since i used intel but it seems the way to go. I keep an open mind and want the best performance for my money and right now its intel.
By the way glad to see you post again soar you helped me in the past and am thankful for it.
-
Hi guys! No worries there is plenty of room for you all over here in the Intel Lounge! We even have chips that work and fast! 2011 is looming and should be a powerhouse even if it isn't cheap. I'm not sure if I am upgrading yet because of the costs but either way I am still looking forward to see it arrive.
-
@soarwitheagles - I hope the prices come down, but that's a big hope, when the i7 2700k cpu arrives. Yes the 1090T is a good CPU but putting it into a 990 FXA MB just doesn't seem right as they were design for the Bulldozer.
That's some salmon in your profile picture, was it taken a fly or a plug?
This is a computer related forum so I better stop asking questions about fishing!!!! :)

No teknology9 that's the bait that Soar is holding up. You should see the size of the fish they are after! ;D

DM that's a good one. :) How does the saying go..... teach a person to fish and they will never go hungry... or something like that!!!! :D

Hi again T9!
Yes, installing a 1090t into that MB seems a little like Volkswagen engine into a Porsche frame and body! I agree with you that it just doesn't seem right...
Yes, you are right...that is a salmon and I caught it with two red beads, a #2 salmon hook, on a two meter leader with a one ounce lead weight. It is salmon season right now again and people are catching them left and right now...
Special note: Once salmon enter the fresh water from the ocean, they no longer eat...but they become angry and we catch them after irritating them from the line in their mouth...it's their anger that does them in...
Unfortunately, I broke a bone in my hand, and am presently in a cast, and that makes catching them even more challenging...
Here's a pic of some I caught before I broke the bone...
Enjoy!

DM,
You still have the wonderful humor...
I went fishing for a much faster and much more powerful AMD processor but....
Well, you know the BD story..
To make it less painful, I went fishing for mountain trout...
The mountain trout were much easier to catch than a faster, more powerful AMD processor!
And the puffer fish were very similar to the AMD Bulldozer...both are full of hot air! They both pretend they are real big and real fast, but in reality they are both quite slow! :P
It's me, Sore
Soar
PS Ok, a quiz for all you history buffs...that pic with me holding the puffer fish that so closely resembles AMD's Bologna Bulldozer was taken 20 meters under the ocean at a place near where the Battle of Leyte Gulf occurred some years ago...
Who can guess the correct answer first? ??? ??? ???
-
Sorry to hear about the broken hand but I'm sure it won't stop you for long Soar. Nice pictures of the fish. I have seen a couple of them before but the rest were new. Just ideal for a barbeque afterwards. ;)
-
Hi Soar,
Those fish look great, I bet they taste nice as well. It reminds me of a holiday I had in Canada a good while back, the fish I caught well.......they.......weren't as big as those. I think the bears took the best ones......well that's my excuse!!!! :)
I better write about matters concerned with PC building otherwise people will say it's turning into a fishing forum. So, at the moment I'm looking for a good Z68 MB to go with a i5 CPU.
Hope your hand mends soon.
Cheers,

T9,
Thanks for the reply...Canadian salmon sounds delicious!
Yes, back to computer talk so DM or Absic do not give us a ticket!
Can you please tell me the difference between the Z68 series MB and the MB I currently use [Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD3-B3]?
I have no clue and I was planning on watching carefully for a MB upgrade during Black Friday if I can find a good price. BTW, my Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD3-B3 has absolutely horrific reviews at New Egg, and that concerns me...
My Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD3-B3 has worked fine thus far, but I only turn it on once a week [I am still using my AMD 1055T as my primary rig]. I have not made the time to transfer all pertinent data from the 1055T to the Intel 2500k yet...
BTW, the Intel runs 5-8 degrees cooler at idle...not sure why...can anyone tell me why?
Also, can anyone help me select a nicer MB for my AMD and Intel?

Teknology9Thank you for your reply! Thanks also for the link you posted...it was very, very helpful.
After reading that link, it appears as if my p67 is just fine and that z68 could be a total waste of time and resources!
Interesting...

That would be my opinion too Soar. The Z68 chipset isn't much different or an upgrade over the P67 at all. I couldn't see any real point in upgrading to the later chipset if you already had the P67 version.
-
Hi Soar,
Glad it was useful, I'm looking to upgrade but I'm thinking about which way to go, AMD or Intel, that's why I'm sitting tight and observing.

That is often the best way to tackle a dilemma like that teknology9 . It's best to just wait until you are ready to make the jump and by then you should have amassed enough information to make the best choice. Too often people have made their choice too far in advance and by the time they actually make the purchase things have changed.

DM,
Thank you for your good advice again!
I am thinking to remain be happy and content with my present rigs unless I find some totally awesome deals on Black Friday...if I find a killer deal on a UD4, UD5, or UD7, then I may upgrade...
Can anyone tell me Intel's proposed release date on their new chip [the 2011]?
Thanks!

Hi Soar,
NDA means Non Disclosure Agreement and is an agreement that is entered into by parties that are given information by a company usually involving data that they don't want released to the public until a certain time/date.
-
" It also gives them the legal right to sue the living pants off you then hunt you down and kill you....usually in that order"
DMs description is the technically and politically correct one .......mine was just the street reality 8)
