Title: GA-Z68X-UD3-B3 F9 REV. 1.0: USB ISSUE
Post by: PCBUILDER on October 16, 2011, 01:00:08 pm
Hi all, i am a PC reseller/builder and have a strange issue with this mobo:
During windows 7 x64 installation after the first rebbot a bluescreen appear with usb bug code error
I have tried every kind of memory (kingston/geil/corsair) of all speed 1333/1600/1866, changed 3 cpu i5-2500/i7-2600/i7-2600k
I also changed the hard drive from OCZ vertex 2 to WD 1TB sata 3, 2 power suply and at last the mobo with another one (same model updated to f9 bios).
After getting allways the same error message i tried to disconnect all usb port (mouse an keyboard and case pannels) and only connected the keybord with PS/2 connector: the installation ended correctly, but no way to keep my usb working !
I plugged a mouse (tried with logitech and microsoft basic mouses) and does not work, same with keybords or usb pendrives.
No yellow mark on usb controller..
Loaded fail safe bios or optimized with no changes.

At last i changed with a GA-Z68XP-UD4 and all work great like usual, but i have 3 GA-Z68X-UD3-B3 mobo on my shop..

Thanks in advance for any help

Wow!....love the resources for trouble shooting! .....double check USB drivers.......check for mount pin shorts to chassis.........You stated F9......Flash back to F6-F7 which is a known......if still no joy.....you could have a bad board....=RMA .....Horrible thing to say but a bent pin (LGA) can cause these issues although an outside chance but worth a check!

Tripp-le!.....bugger! ...... another trick to see if it's working is turn off USB mass storage in Bios.....hope it goes well for you!

As Allan said check the Legacy USB settings in the BIOS. Sometimes they can affect the working in Windows too. Also try disabling the USB3 support and ESATA in the BIOS.

Yes, sometimes a BIOS upgrade turns out to be anything but! Usually though the bugs have been cleared by the time it get to full release status.
