Title: Question about ga-990fxa-ud3

Hi all.I have ga-990fxa-ud3 & i bought 3 stink's of ram Corsair - XMS3 Classic Blue DDR3, 3x2GB, 1600MHz.I know i did a bad thing because those stick's are made for Intel mother boards.Now my question is,can i use all stick's?For example i populated on mother board memory slots DDR3_1 & DDR3_3(is this single mode?) and now if i put one more in Chanel DDR3_2 will run in dual mode?Memory in bios are set at 1333 MHz and voltage at 1.65v(i have do do-it  manually in bios).My processor is a AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition.Sorry for my English :))))

Hi Incubus,

Be very careful about running your RAM above 1333MHz with the 955 CPU check here about this: http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php/topic,2515.0.html

That said, you should be able to use all 3 sticks of RAM and I would suggest you use the DDR3_1, DDR3_3 & DDR3_2 slots (the ones furthest away from the CPU). This will mean you are running in Dual Channel Mode. As you have said you will need to set other parameters Voltage, timings and speed manually.

You may do better though to keep the RAM running at 1333MHz and by doing this you should be able to lower the voltage and also tighten the timings a little which will actually give similar performance as RAM running at 1600MHz but without the risk of potentially damaging the Memory Controllers on the CPU.

Absic is talking a lot of sense and what he suggests regarding running the memory at a slower speed with tighter timings really does work better than trying to rely on speed alone. The throughput of data will be more with the tighter timings and you won't risk damage.

I am all ready running memory's at 1333 MHz.Right now are running at 1333mhz,1,5v and timings 9-9-9-24.They are rated at 1600mhz,1.65 v and timings at 9-9-9-24.I read the first post about memory higher then 1333.What will be the best timings for those memory's and how much help's?

I would certainly try tightening them up a bit. Try 8-8-8-21 although you will probably have to go to 8-8-8-24. Doesn't hurt to try.

Ok,here is my system now and it is absolutely amazing-my cpu is oc at 3700 mxz with the multiplier set at 18,5(it is stable and i know that it can go higher but i don't want that)-memory's are at 1333mhz,1.5v and timings are at 8-8-8-24.I am very glad how my system works,i mean it is stable and very fast.I built my system about 2 months ago and never had a problem.Thank you guy's for your help

I am really glad to hear that your machine is now working as it should and stable. I agree with you decision to limit the overclock so that it isn't putting too much pressure on the system. I see the 8-8-8-24 worked ok. ;)
