Title: Damaged cpu socket
Post by: moorhen2 on October 24, 2011, 10:55:00 am

Hi all,got a big problem, stupidly managed to bend and break a couple of pins on my cpu socket on my Z68X-UD7-B3,now obviously it wont work, what i would like to know is how do i go about getting it repaired, and where do i have to send it.I know i cant get it repaired under warranty, due to my own stupidity, but i dont want to bin a 5 month old £280 motherboard.
So if any of you good people can advise me on who to contact, and what to do,i would be very happy. Thanks in advance for any help on this matter. :(

Hi,

Have you contacted your local PC store, or perhaps Gigabyte might repair and test it for you at a cost which may be cheaper than buying a new MB.

Hi,

Gigabyte Support UK can be found on the link below:

http://uk.gigabyte.com/support-downloads/support-downloads.aspx

You could submit a support ticket explain your situation and then await there advice, it may take a while but they will reply.

Hi,

No problem. I think most people learn the hard way and the positives are you know how to get future matters resolved, so think positive....upwards and onwards.

Also, if you have any problems in the future you know where we all are.

Hi and welcome.

Try contacting the RMA section here:

returns@gbt-tech.co.uk RMA section UK

Alternatively PM runn3R the Gigabyte admin of the forum and see if he can help you. He is very accomodating and will do what he can I am sure.

Hi moorhen2

I have tried to send you PM but received following message: "The email account that you tried to reach is disabled"
Anyway it's good to hear that you've received reply already from UK GGTS.

It should all get sorted out fairly soon now then. The Gigabyte lads are pretty much on the ball up there. ;)

Hi guys, can anyone tell me if Gigabyte acknowledge reciept of RMA,as it has been over a week since the board was delivered to them, going by royal mail tracking they recieved the board on Wednesday the 2nd,but i have not heard anything as to what is hapening.

The short answer is no, I'm afraid. AS long as you sent it by a traceable courier then you have no problem and I expect it is being looked at right now. Depending on the workload it can take several weeks to get it back to you and often there will be no description of what has been carried out so you would need to ask specifically if you want to know. ;)

I know this is off topic, but can anyone tell me if this board is "Discontinued",many online retailers have no stock, and some saying end of line or discontinued,is this a fact,if so,why are they discontinued. Thanks for you help.

PS recieved my board back today, very pleased.
