Title: GA-Z68X-UD3-B3 updated to F11 BIOS issues... help!
Post by: SharksFan on October 25, 2011, 04:55:30 am
I updated from F7 (I believe) to F11.  I then tried to reinstall windows, and now it keeps crashing to BSOD with BUGGED_USB_DRIVER 0x000000FE error.  I tried to reinstall windows several times now.  I have unplugged all other USB devices except for the keyboard, but it keeps failing.  I have also tried other hard drives, but not luck.

Should I try downgrading my BIOS back to F7?  Is that even safe?  Or should I just try to re-flash F11?

I just plugged the USB drive into my laptop that I used to update the BIOS to check the file to see if I could confirm that I updated it to F11. The file name on it is  z68xud3.f9 , so I think I updated it to F9.  I also don't even see F9 on their website anymore, and only see F11.

 Is F9 BIOS bad?

Is there any way to check in the BIOS what version it is?

OK! Updating to F11 fixed it!

The main reason I was trying to upgrade it in the first place was because the SSD caching wasn't stable with my Corsair 60GB Force 3 SSD.  Does anyone know if upgrading from F7 to F11 will fix this problem?    Otherwise I'm just going to just run off the OS that OI install on the SSD right now.

Hi and welcome.

I am glad to see that you seem to have sorted it all out anyway. There is not normally a lot of description of what the BIOS update files actually fix so we just have to "go on faith" there. You say that F11 fixed it now anyway so I would be inclined to leave it at that as it sounds like they might have found problems with the F9 version and removed it.

To Double check you could also ask the question on the Corsair forum, here:

There is some information on the SSD section which may be of some help also.
