Title: GA-EX58-UD5, x4 PCI express port?
Post by: Steven185 on October 19, 2009, 03:38:46 pm
Hi I own a UD5 with two 5870s crossfired. I'm willing to add a (x4) hardware raid controller, would that affect the function of the other (blue) PCI-E ports (i.e. be downgraded to x8 speeds)? Of course I'm talking about the x4 slot (the small orange one) not the x16 one which I always leave unpopulated (so that I won't downgrade my primary ports' speeds).

In other words would I be able to have UD5 function as a x16,x16,x4 board? (instead of a x16,x8,x8)

Thanks.

looking at the block diagram of this mobo i would say it should not affect your VGA's transfer speed through PCI-E
