I'm having a problem with my board, I'm not sure if the motherboard is faulty or my memory is not supported. I'm going towards the latter.
If I fill up all slots with my Kingston 4GB DDR1600 the BIOS shows it as 8gb. I disconnect 1 Module, 6GB. Disconnect next one, 4GB. I leave it with one in the DDR1 slot and sure enough its 2GB. At this point I swap in all other modules into DDR1 individually, and it comes up as 2GB.
I've updated my BIOS to F5 this morning, still no luck. I've checked the Qualified list and it doesn't show my exact model number. I don't have any other RAM to test, I would have to buy something from the qualified list.
Any ideas? I'll go buy some RAM that's on the list now and see what happens. I really don't want to spend a lot of money right now, so let's say if I leave this 8GB in, will my performance suffer at all? Or would it be the same as if I was running 2 sticks of 4GB?

I did have this ram in another gigabyte mobo and all 16GB came up fine.

I'm yet to install all drivers from the mobo as I have some caution signs under device manager for:
PCI Simple Communications Controller
SM Bus Controller
Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller
Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller
Video Controller

Hi and welcome.
Your problem, most likely is that you are trying to still use the "Auto" setting to manage your memory. That is fine usually for two modules but if you fill all the slots the controller requires more power to do it's job and Auto doesn't cut it.
What is the default voltage for your memory ?
Also what timings are printed on the sides of the modules ? ( Something like 9-9-9-24 )
