Title: GA-945GMF-DS2 system clock drops to 206 MHz
Post by: armadillo on October 30, 2011, 04:52:15 am
I was given one of these mainboards. It runs fine with two memory modules. I added a third, same size and speed, but different number of chips. I expected it would just fallback in single-channel mode, but the master clock dropped from 266 to 206 MHz. Firstly, why 206 not 200? I have seen mainboards were the memory access speed fell when extra modules were added, but the CPU frequency stayed up (meaning master clock was the same).

Hi

I cannot immediately see why it would do this unless the memory stick that you last inserted was a dodgy one. You shouldn't mix and match modules anyway and should try to stick to the same make and model even if possible as otherwise all sorts of problems can occur. :-\
