Title: GA-890FXA-UD5 Rev 2.0 & 3TB
Post by: Broomy on November 05, 2011, 12:24:07 am
Hi,

I have a GA-890FXA-UD5 Rev 2.0 MB which won't recognize a 3TB drive.
The rev 3.0 & 3.1 have had updates to support the 3TB but the rev 2.0 is stuck & f6 bios.
Does anyone know of a workaround or am I up for yet another new MB.
The official answer from Gigabyte was there was no recommended way to do but since it looks like this board is destined for the bin anyway I figure nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Sorry should have noted, only need it a data drive not a boot drive if that makes a difference,

Cheers

Hi Broomy,

sorry I don't know of a work around that will get it running from the motherboard's SATA ports but have you considered a USB SATA Dock as a possible solution?

I have a couple of these and have not had a problem with accessing any SATA drives yet! (famous last words) OK, I'll admit that they are not as quick as if the drives are running through the SATA Controller but the USB3 version I just got hold of works pretty fast, for an external solution.
