Please no sales pitch, but what is better with the S1080 Slate PC compared too a IPAD or other products. I am really interested in the buying S1080, But would like to hear from some one who has bought one what they are like.
Also after warranty period, would it be possible to clone the existing 320GB HDD and install a 240GB SSD?

It really comes down to what you do with it and screen resolution .... one big advantage with the unit you chose is it actually has a 2.5" hard drive.as far as cloning it to a bigger drive ..... it's Windows based so most cloning suites should work ..... Acronis is one of the best but is a paid for.
Another bit of kit you may be interested in instead of paying for a new drive and cloning software......put it towards a Seagate 500 Gb wi-fi drive...

This will allow you to stream over 802.11N content and data to up to 3 windows based devices and has an android app to boot....is battery portable so you can use it as a portable movie storage, audio collection.......and the best bit is it's got its own battery on-board ..........it would probably work out cheaper then the cloning software and new drive.
As far as is the Pad you picked any good....don't know...my wife has a HP Pad .... I can cook dinner quicker then it can boot :D

I like the idea of a wifi HDD enclosure, it seems the particle way to go for storage.
I would still assume an SSD would actually give the S 1080 more processing speed and lower temps, possibly too because of the architecture of SSD's, a lower voltage demand, hence gaining a longer battery life.
IE. Sata 2 HDD @69-80MBPS + 33 C temps or a Sata 2 SSD@285MBPS + 0 C temps.

I use it for business and it is by far the only slate that I can use (I've done extensive research on all the others). I was thinking of doing a youtube, I have some video of me using it at work, but I have not posted it as yet.
I have installed a Crucial C300 SSD into it.

Which screwdriver can be used to open the star screws on the back of the S1080 ?
The 320gb hard drive used in the S1080 is documented as 7mm but the Kingston and Crucial SSD is 9.5mm is this going to be a problem ?

Why not just use the proper stardriver. Whilst it is possible to use a small blade screwdriver it is much better to use the proper tool. They are readilly available in hardware stores. ;) I am not sure if they are star heads or torx but a careful examination will soon tell.

From my further research, I have found that a Torx number 9 should do the job.
I have found that 7mm SSd's are on their way.

I used the Crucial C300 and removed the casing. That voids the warranty of course!!
However once that was done I took out the black plastic spacer they have around it and then taped the covers together as the case is now too slim for the screws. And installed it.
I saw another video with a guy that used the SSD bare, with no casing at all in his S1080.

Thanks to all you for the information about te S1080.
I have one last question before I buy (and then I will probably wait for the release of the S1081) ::):
Do you know if it supports High Definition Audio (192-kHz 32-bit stereo) or DVD Audio (192-kHz 24-bit stereo)? (with the appropiate external DAC)
I asume that it will support it. But I am asking just in case. The tech specs of other Windows Tablets, like the Acer Iconia Tab W500-BZ467, are specifically mentioning this detail, but not the Gigabyte.
This is one field where the "consumer tablets" can not compete with the good Windows tablets so far.
