using GA- EP45-ds3L rev bios f11 date sept 2009'

You want to select RAID on the first pull down menu in the Interface menu, not AHCI. Since you were able to configure the Raid you should be good to install the OS and have the drives recognized after that. If they still aren't then you may need to load a driver in windows for them to be recognized. Win7 and Vista shouldn't require it though.

I understand what your saying donot use ACHI
but the only choices are ACHI or ide not raid.
Using the most up to date bios flash F11
Also there is not a Raid bios set up to configure
or i am not sure how to get there
This manual is for GA-EP45-DS3LR/and DS3L is what i have
not sure what difference is?
Followed instructions per manual, unable to find RAID configuration area
thank you for the adivse, mean time i will look around in the bios
I wonder if this MB has raid
i could try calling gigabyte cust. support

Well that explains it the difference is the R has Raid, the non-R doesn't. You'll have to pickup a raid controller or grab a new MB.
