I have a new GA-990XA-UD3 Rev 1.1 and an older GA890XA-UD3 Rev 1.0 and on both of the MBs when I switch from Win 7 to Linux or from Linux to Win 7 the ethernet adapter seems to "latch up". The solution is to remove power from the computer completely when switching operating systems. Surely there is a better fix than that! There was no problem at all on an older GA-M55SLI-S4 motherboard. The GA-M55SLI-S4 MB is now defunct, which is the reason for the new GA-990XA-UD3.

Don't have the same model Gigabyte mobo and mine uses a Realtek LAN chip -- but I had similar problems.
Short-term solution was to use the LAN Diagnostics utility that Realtek supplied and reset the LAN. That worked every time (in Windows).
Eventually, Gigabyte came out with LAN driver updates that fixed the problem.
Might be worth checking from time to time to see if there are LAN driver updates on the Gigabyte site.
