hi all im really mad at the moment in august i made a sandybridge setup on a z68 board with the fastest sandybridge in it now i notise those nice x79 boards have come out im really gutted im wondering if my z68 board will accpet the ivybridge when that comes out my board i have is a ud7 board the z68 range i just need a bit of advice any replys would be greatfull thanks in advanced :)

Corsair Professional Series AX1200
Intel Core i7-2600K 3.40GHz (Sandybridge)
Corsair Obsidian 800D
8gb of mushkin Redline 1600Mhz 7-8-7-24
Corsair CWCH100 Hydro Series H100 Extreme Performance CPU Cooler

Continue to be mad!...Only joking...........But start saving.........it's early days yet but sandy and ivy bridge I think will be in both LGA formats
It's the XXX-Bridge-E processor that will only be LGA2011 as far as I understand it.

Yes I would agree with Allan that the new IvyBridge processors will be backwards compatible and so you shouldn't have a problem. The 2011 socketed CPUs however will only run on their specific X79 boards . There should be more of them to be released next year so hopefully they will come down in price and be available to us mere mortals.
