Title: 990xa-ud3 question
Post by: redster on November 29, 2011, 09:18:57 pm
Just got this board (990xa-ud3) for an upgrade system for my wife....works great..  checked Gigabyte website for bios upgrade info and it only listed rev. 1.0 for the board.  My board is a rev. 1.1   I sent email to gigabyte support and asked difference between 1.0 and 1.1 and they said gigabyte did not make a rev. 1.1 of this motherboard...   Well I got the box it came in and it says rev. 1.1 and the motherboard itself has rev. 1.1 designed in taipei on the upper left corner near the green header.. any body care to comment ..  thanks

Hi there,

Ah just what we like a mystery!  :o

This is not the first time I have heard or read about this and believe it or not it turns out that quite often the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing. Occasionally, new revisions of a motherboard will  sneak onto the market but the website and technical support aren't updated with this information.

The best advice I can offer is that you take a picture of the motherboard, so that it clearly show the model number and the revision number and that you then send it to Tech Support and ask them again.

Hi

Did you purchase the motherboard from a normal retail store or did it come from a more unusual source ? I ask because I have seen this happen before a couple of times and the motherboards in question were never made for general release and more as testers.

  My 990xa-ud3 is a version 1.1 motherboard.   SN#114540016451

BIOS updates at Gigabyte say Bios Version 1.x  ..even though only 1.0 appears in the search results.  Probably saves them some time.
